LEFT COAST GALLERIES presents Necessary Illusions New Works By RACHEL WARKENTIN & ZIVANA GOJANOVIC February 11 - March 16, 2010 ARTISTS RECEPTION : February 11th, 6 - 9 p.m. Public Welcome
Left Coast Galleries is pleased to present an exhibition of recent works by Rachel Warkentin, featuring a series of painted figments with varied levels of connection to reality, inspired by pageantry, and the relationship between the imagined and the real. She states, "Torn between the comfort of blending in and the desire to stand out, these figures are caught trying to do both at once rather than find a middle ground." Warkentin uses egg tempera to hold the oil painted figures in stasis so that their efforts can be examined.

Left Coast Galleries is also happy to present new works from Zivana Gojanovic. Her paintings grow from a blending of thoughtful execution, and raw emotion. This, when balanced by a strong visual esthetic and intellectual connection, sums up the forces which direct her creative consciousness. She states, "The creative process is the pursuit of truth, our struggle for that moment of personal discovery and enlightenment when we observe ourselves accurately without judgment or bias".
Gojanovic's works can be found in many private and corporate collections including: KI Showroom, Napier Joseph McNamara LTD, David Copperfield, Thomas Slater, and Hajime Komuyo.
